Can I take pictures and where?

Only couples who are married at the Old Royal Naval College are permitted to take their photographs in the grounds. You will also receive exclusive use of your chosen interior spaces.

Do we have exclusive use of the grounds?

Exclusive use is not possible. The Greenwich Foundation and site partners aim to provide enjoyment for all visitors and bring the buildings to life through an annual programme of high quality public events. You will have exclusive use of the rooms that you hire, and we will keep you notified of any other events and activities taking place within the grounds.

The Old Royal Naval College is one of the top 20 visitor attractions in the UK and receives over 1.7 million visitors a year. Its free attractions, the Discover Greenwich Visitor Centre, Painted Hall and Chapel are open daily. The Old Royal Naval College is also home to the University of Greenwich and Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance. The site is also a popular film location, and you may well have seen it in major film productions such as ‘The Golden Compass’,’ The Duchess’,’ The Queen’, ’Sherlock Holmes’, ’Pirates of the Caribbean’ and ‘The King’s Speech’.

How much should I budget for food and drink per person for my guests?

You can select our wedding package or you can select each of the items individually. The final cost of your menu will depend on the course option you select. Please see our seasonal menus for your selection. You may also want to budget for canapés to enjoy during your drinks reception and whilst your photographs are being taken; we recommend 4 canapés per person from £14.50. An evening finger buffet is an excellent way to keep guests’ energy and spirits up; we recommend a minimum 5 items per person from £29.00 or why not chose from our late night snacks selection. Our wine selection starts from £25.50 per bottle and Prosecco from £36.00 per bottle. We would recommend working on half a bottle of wine per person as a minimum.

What other costs are there?

Included in your package are white or black table cloths and white napkins (tables are not covered in the Painted Hall, however, napkins will be provided), existing crockery, cutlery, glassware, existing furniture, waiting staff and bar staff. You may wish to enhance your package with the following: flowers, chair covers, name cards, menus, furniture and music. All of your enhancements will be at an additional cost. Removal of any furniture to all or any rooms will incur an additional charge, quoted upon enquiry.

Is there a bar available?

The Old Royal Naval College is a fully licensed venue and can offer a bar facility in addition to serving drinks with your meal. We are happy to provide a cash bar or an account bar. We can also provide a credit card facility behind the bar. Our packages include a bar until 23.00pm. Extension request can be arranged for £360.00 to extend the bar until 01.00am. Extra security will also be required for this time and charged accordingly.
